Diaz-Balart Announces $4.8 Million Grant for Low and No Emission Buses in Miami-Dade County
Jun 25, 2021
WASHINGTON, D.C.–– Congressman Mario Diaz-Balart (FL-25) issued the following statement after the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) granted Miami-Dade County $4.8 million for the Low and No Emission Vehicle Grant Program. Diaz-Balart is the Ranking Member of the House Appropriations Committee on Transportation, Housing and Urban Development, which funds this grant program for state and local governments under DOT.
“I am grateful that the U.S. Department of Transportation has awarded this grant to Miami-Dade County. Many buses in the current fleet are older, less efficient models in need of replacement. With this funding, the County will be able to purchase cleaner, more sustainable, and more energy-efficient buses. As Ranking Member of the Transportation, Housing and Urban Development subcommittee on Appropriations, I know how important these grants are to communities like Miami-Dade County. I am glad to have been able to allocate $125 million towards this program in my fiscal year 2021 bill, and that the County has been able to reap the rewards of that funding.”
