Diaz-Balart: Hey, House Majority Leadership! It’s not a ‘Manufactured Crisis’ After All

Press Release

WASHINGTON, D.C. –– Congressman Mario Diaz-Balart (FL-25) issued the following statement after the passage of “Senate amendment to H.R. 3401 - Emergency Supplemental Appropriations for Humanitarian Assistance and Security at the Southern Border Act, 2019.”

“It’s been fifty-eight days since the Administration requested emergency funding to address the humanitarian crisis at the border. During that time, thousands of individuals, including children, have been at heightened risk. After weeks of labeling it a 'manufactured crisis' and refusing to bring a bill to the floor for a vote eighteen times, House Democratic Leadership finally allowed the Senate’s bipartisan solution to be considered on the House floor, so we may address the dire humanitarian needs at the southern border.  It’s a shame that House Democratic leadership delayed this desperately needed assistance for so long, and for such petty political reasons.”
