Congressional Latino-Jewish Caucus Meet with Former Hostage and Families of Current Hostages Held by Hamas
WASHINGTON, D.C.– Co-Chairs of the bipartisan Congressional Latino-Jewish Caucus, Representatives Mario Díaz-Balart (R-FL), Tony Gonzales (R-TX), Adriano Espaillat (D-NY), and Debbie Wasserman Shultz (D-FL) issued the following statement after meeting with a former hostage and families of hostages who remain held captive by Hamas in Gaza:
“It has been 405 days since Hamas terrorists massacred over 1,200 innocent men, women, and children and kidnapped more than 250 hostages. Today, 101 hostages, including Americans, remain in brutal captivity under Hamas.
“Yesterday, as co-chairs of the bipartisan Congressional Latino-Jewish Caucus, we met with a former hostage who had been held for over 50 days, as well as with the families of those still in captivity. It was profoundly emotional to hear their accounts of the horrific conditions, including mental torture and sexual and physical violence perpetrated by their captors. We assured them that their loved ones are not forgotten.
“It is crucial that Congress remain united in unwavering bipartisan support and solidarity with our ally, Israel, and continue our efforts urging for the remaining hostages to be freed. We will not stop working for the safe release of all the hostages, and for their captors to be held accountable."

WASHINGTON, D.C.– Los Copresidentes del Comité Parlamentario Latino-Judío del Congreso bipartidista, Mario Díaz-Balart (R-FL), Tony Gonzales (R-TX), Adriano Espaillat (D-NY), y Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-FL), emitieron la siguiente declaración después de reunirse con una exrehén y con familias de los rehenes que siguen siendo cautivos de Hamas:
“Han pasado 405 días desde que los terroristas de Hamas masacraron a más de 1,200 hombres, mujeres y niños inocentes y secuestraron a más de 250 rehenes. Hoy, 101 rehenes, incluidos cuidadanos americanos, siguen en brutal cautiverio de Hamas.
“Ayer, como copresidentes del Caucus Latino-Judío del Congreso bipartidista, nos reunimos con una exrehén que estuvo retenida por más de 50 días, así como con las familias de aquellos que siguen en cautiverio de Hamas. Fue profundamente conmovedor escuchar sus relatos sobre las horribles condiciones, incluyendo tortura mental, violencia sexual y física perpetradas por sus captores. Les aseguramos que sus seres queridos no serán olvidados.
"Es crucial que el Congreso permanezca unido en su apoyo bipartidista e inquebrantable y en solidaridad con nuestro aliado Israel, y que continúe nuestros esfuerzos para exigir la liberación inmediata de todos los rehenes. Permanecemos firmes en nuestro compromiso de continuar nuestro trabajo colectivo para lograr el retorno de los rehenes a sus familias y que sus captores rindan cuentas".
