Díaz-Balart Honors Local Heroes at Miami Lakes Veterans Parade

November 3, 2025

MIAMI LAKES, FL — Congressman Mario Díaz-Balart (FL-26), Dean of the Florida Delegation and member of the Defense House Appropriations Subcommittee on Defense, joined the Town of Miami Lakes and thousands of residents to celebrate the community’s tradition of honoring America’s veterans at the annual Miami Lakes Veterans Parade.

The parade, now in its 46th year, recognizes the bravery and sacrifice of the men and women who have served our country, and those actively serving today. This year’s Grand Marshal, Retired U.S. Marine Colonel William “Bill” Pérez, was honored for his extraordinary 32 years of service to our country and ongoing leadership as Chair of the Miami Lakes Veterans Committee.

In 2021, Congressman Díaz-Balart presented Col. Pérez with the Congressional Veteran Commendation, recognizing his exemplary 32-year decorated military career and lifelong commitment to supporting veterans and their families in South Florida.

“It’s always an honor to join the people of Miami Lakes to celebrate our heroes,” said Congressman Díaz-Balart. “Today, we paid tribute to the men and women who swore to defend our country and gave thanks for their service and sacrifice. I especially want to recognize Col. Bill Pérez for his commitment and leadership to our veterans and the Miami Lakes community. I am proud of my work in Congress in supporting legislation that boosts pay for our servicemembers, enhances access to healthcare, provides military housing, and protects vital benefits – and I look forward to continuing to deliver for our veterans.”
