Diaz-Balart: I applaud the Trump administration for cutting off another revenue source to Maduro and his cronies.

March 19, 2019

WASHINGTON – Congressman Mario Diaz-Balart (FL-25) issued the following statement after the U.S. Treasury Department imposed sanctions on Venezuela's state-run mining company, Minervan and its president, Adrian Antonio Perdoma Mata, for corruption and contributing to the deteriorating situation in Venezuela.

"Once again, the Administration has imposed tough sanctions on those who plunder the Venezuelan people's resources to sustain the brutally, oppressive Maduro regime. The Maduro regime has been mining natural resources belonging to the Venezuelan people and purchasing highly valuable gold with the regime's nearly worthless currency. The Maduro regime's shameless plundering of Venezuela's resources must end, and I am proud that the United States is holding accountable those that corrupt its institutions and leverage the remnants of Venezuela's national wealth for personal gain."
