WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Representative Mario Díaz-Balart (FL-26) issued the following statement after meeting with the President-elect of Venezuela, Mr. Edmundo González Urrutia, and Representatives María Elvira Salazar (FL-27), Carlos A. Giménez (FL-28), and Mike Waltz (FL-6), incoming National Security Advisor in the Trump Administration:
"It is a true honor and pleasure to meet with President-elect Edmundo González Urrutia, where we reaffirmed unwavering support and solidarity for the cause of freedom in Venezuela and for holding Maduro and his thugs accountable for their crimes.
"Under President Trump, America will enter a new era of leadership–one that refuses to appease murderous dictatorships.
"The Venezuelan people will be free due to the courage of leaders within the democratic opposition."
