Diaz-Balart Recognizes Winners of 2016 Congressional App Challenge

MIAMI – Congressman Mario Diaz-Balart (FL-25) announced the 1^st, 2^nd, and 3^rd place winners of the 2016 Congressional App Challenge for Florida’s 25^th District. The winners were selected by an independent panel of local technology and STEM leaders who served as judges. From the 25^th District, twenty-one students from three schools submitted seven original student-created apps.

The Congressional App Challenge is a congressional initiative, managed by the Internet Education Foundation [IEF], a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. It was first established by the Congressional Internet Caucus in 2014, and Co-Chairs Rep. Bob Goodlatte and Rep. Anna G. Eshoo spearheaded the effort. In 2016, the App Challenge had 123 successful App Challenges hosted by Members of Congress, over 2100 student participants, and more than 650 original student-created apps submitted.
