Diaz-Balart, Salazar, Gimenez and Malliotakis Make the Case for Indicting Raul Castro
WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today, U.S. Representatives Mario Díaz-Balart (FL-26), Maria Elvira Salazar (FL-27), Carlos A. Giménez (FL-28), and Nicole Malliotakis (NY-11) sent a letter to President Donald J. Trump asking that his administration consider indicting Raul Castro for his involvement in the 1996 shootdown of the Brothers to the Rescue civilian aircraft which resulted in four murders in cold blood.
“President Trump is a strong ally and a symbol of hope for the brave activists struggling for democracy, while also standing firm against the ruthless dictators that oppress them. Raúl Castro has been at the center of the Cuban regime’s crimes for nearly seven decades. February 24 will mark thirty years since the heinous shootdown of two unarmed civilian aircraft in international waters by the Cuban military, under the command of then-Defense Minister Raúl Castro. This resulted in the murders of four innocent humanitarians – three American citizens and one U.S. resident.
We commend President Trump for prioritizing U.S. national security in his foreign policy decisions. The anti-American, terrorist regime in Cuba has spread its malign influence throughout the globe with few consequences. The thugs who have oppressed, tortured, and killed must face justice – and accountability should start at the top."

Trump solicitando que su Administración considere acusar formalmente ante la justicia a Raúl Castro por su participación en el derribo en 1996 de las aeronaves civiles de Hermanos al Rescate, incidente que resultó en cuatro asesinatos a sangre fría.
“El presidente Trump ha sido un firme aliado y un símbolo de esperanza para los valientes activistas que luchan por la democracia, y se ha mantenido firme contra los despiadados dictadores que los oprimen. Raúl Castro ha estado en el centro de los crímenes del régimen cubano durante casi siete décadas. El 24 de febrero marcará treinta años desde el atroz derribo de dos aeronaves civiles desarmadas en aguas internacionales por parte del ejército cubano, bajo el mando del entonces ministro de Defensa, Raúl Castro. Esto resultó en el asesinato de cuatro inocentes humanitarios: tres ciudadanos estadounidenses y un residente legal de Estados Unidos.
Elogiamos al presidente Trump por priorizar la seguridad nacional de Estados Unidos en sus decisiones de política exterior.
