Díaz-Balart Welcomes Cuban Pro-Democracy Leader and Hero José Daniel Ferrer

MIAMI, FL — Today, Congressman Mario Díaz-Balart (FL-26), Vice Chair of the House Appropriations Committee and Chairman of the Subcommittee on National Security, the Department of State, and Related Programs (NSRP), welcomed political prisoner, independent journalist, and leader of the Unión Patriótica de Cuba, José Daniel Ferrer, to the United States after being forced into exile.

"Alongside my colleague, Representative Carlos A. Giménez, I had the great honor of welcoming political prisoner and hero José Daniel Ferrer to the United States — the land of freedom — after he was forced into exile by the murderous Cuban regime.

José Daniel has endured years of physical and psychological torture at the hands of that regime. Despite this, he has courageously stood with the oppressed Cuban people in their struggle against countless human rights abuses and injustices.

The United States welcomes him as the hero he is and will continue to stand in unwavering solidarity against the cruel and repressive dictatorship in Cuba."

MIAMI,FL - Hoy, el legislador Mario Díaz-Balart (FL-26), vicepresidente de la Comisión de Asignaciones de la Cámara de Representantes y presidente de la Subcomisión que determina los fondos para la política exterior de EE.UU., dio la bienvenida al prisionero político, periodista independiente y líder de la Unión Patriótica de Cuba, José Daniel Ferrer, a Estados Unidos, luego de ser forzado al exilio.

"Junto a mi colega, el Congresista Carlos A. Giménez, tuve el gran honor de dar la bienvenida a Estados Unidos —tierra de libertad— al prisionero político y héroe cubano José Daniel Ferrer, luego de ser forzado al exilio por el régimen asesino de Cuba.

José Daniel ha resistido años de tortura física y psicológica a manos de ese régimen. A pesar de ello, ha demostrado un valor extraordinario al mantenerse firme junto al oprimido pueblo cubano en su lucha contra las constantes violaciones de derechos humanos e injusticias.

Estados Unidos lo recibe como el héroe que es y continuará su solidaridad inquebrantable frente a la cruel y represiva dictadura en Cuba".
