WASHINGTON, D.C. – Representative Mario Díaz-Balart (FL-26) is pleased to invite members of the media to attend a special check presentation ceremony tomorrow, Tuesday, April 23, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. The event celebrates the funding secured for the repair and rehabilitation to improve the operation and reliability of the pump stations in Everglades City and Carnestown, most of which are in very poor condition with deficiencies ranging from non-operational pumps to extensive corrosion of mechanical equipment. These improvements are needed to avoid sewer overflows and significantly reduce the risk of environmental and ecological damage to surrounding areas. This project received funding through the Consolidated Appropriations Act for Fiscal Year 2024, which was approved by Congress and signed by the President on March 9th, 2024.
