MEDIA ADVISORY: Rep. Díaz-Balart Check Presentation for the Collier County Sherriff's Office and the Collier County Transit Maintenance Facility

April 22, 2024
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Representative Mario Díaz-Balart (FL-26) is pleased to invite members of the media to attend two special check presentation ceremonies tomorrow, Tuesday, April 23, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. The event celebrates the funding secured for the Collier County Sheriff policing equipment upgrades and Collier Area Transit Maintenance Facility.

Collier County is the largest county in Florida geographically and the 17th most populous. The upgrade of the Sheriff's Office vehicle fleet and mobile radios will ensure that law enforcement is equipped with the necessary tools and resources to keep our community safe.

The facility that the Collier County transit system uses for fleet maintenance has exceeded its useful life (it is a prefabricated building constructed in 1985) and is due to be replaced. This funding will be used to upgrade the facility's roof and exterior wall layer.

These projects received funding through the Consolidated Appropriations Act for Fiscal Year 2024, which was approved by Congress and signed by the President on March 9th, 2024.

This ceremony will be live-streamed here and on the Collier County, Florida Facebook page.
