TOMORROW: Diaz-Balart to Present $2 million to University of Miami Center for Southeastern Tropical Advanced Remote Sensing

MIAMI—Congressman Mario Diaz-Balart (R-FL) will tour the University of Miami’s Center for Southeastern Tropical Advanced Remote Sensing (CSTARS) and present a check to the school for $2 million in federal funding this Thursday, February 21, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. at the UM Richmond Campus in Richmond Heights. He will be joined by Donna E. Shalala, Ph.D., president of the University of Miami, and Otis Brown, Ph.D., dean of the Rosenstiel School of Marine and Atmospheric Science.

CSTARS is a component of the Rosenstiel School of Marine and Atmospheric Science. The federal funds will help CSTARS conduct research using remote sensing data received from earth orbiting satellite systems.
