Working with the Trump Administration, Díaz-Balart Delivers for our Farmers

October 31, 2025

Southern Florida – Congressman Mario Díaz-Balart (FL-26), Dean of the Florida Delegation and Vice Chair of the House Appropriations Committee, commended President Donald J. Trump, Secretary of Labor Lori Chavez-DeRemer, and OMB Director Russ Vought for their swift action to resume H-2A labor certification processing amid the ongoing Schumer shutdown:

Congressman Díaz-Balart said, “My sincere thanks to President Donald J. Trump, Secretary Lori Chavez-DeRemer, and OMB Director Russ Vought for their leadership in ensuring the resumption of H-2A labor certification processing amid the government shutdown.

Their decisive action has provided critical relief to Florida’s growers and the agriculture industry, allowing essential farm operations to continue uninterrupted. This effort safeguards the timely harvest of crops and helps prevent potential supply disruptions that could have impacted more than 150 million consumers.

Florida’s farmers, and the American families who rely on them, deeply appreciate this commitment to keeping our food supply strong, stable, and secure.

Senate Democrats must act and reopen the government—NOW."

The Florida Fruit & Vegetable Association said,“The Trump administration’s swift decision to resume processing H-2A labor certifications during the shutdown demonstrates its commitment to supporting growers and ensuring domestic food security. This decisive action is essential for safeguarding Florida’s vital agricultural production from potential crop loss and financial hardship, while also ensuring that growers have the workforce necessary to harvest fruits and vegetables that feed Americans through the winter months.

We appreciate the administration, including Director Russell Vought and Secretary Lori Chavez-DeRemer, for resuming this essential work, and U.S. Rep. Mario Díaz-Balart and other members of the Florida delegation for their leadership as Florida moves toward its peak production season.”
