May 23, 2014

WASHINGTON, DC— Congressman Mario Diaz-Balart (R-FL) encourages families and individuals to prepare for Hurricane Season. Diaz-Balart promotes National Hurricane Preparedness Week, which begins on May 25th and runs through May 31st. Hurricane Season starts next Sunday, June 1st.

"With the 2014 Hurricane Season upon us, Florida and other coastal states in the U.S. must begin to prepare for the possibility of these natural disasters. I encourage residents to take advantage of National Hurricane Preparedness Week to protect their homes and their families for the upcoming season. We can reduce the effects that hurricanes have on our communities if we take the right steps."

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) kicked off their annual National Hurricane Preparedness Week to create awareness leading up to the start of the season.
