WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Mario Díaz-Balart (FL-26), Vice Chair of the House Appropriations Committee, issued the following statement after the committee approved the Fiscal Year 2027 Commerce, Justice, and Science (CJS) Appropriations bill:
NAPLES, FL - Congressman Mario Diaz-Balart (FL-26), Vice Chair of the House Appropriations Committee and Dean of the Florida Congressional Delegation, presented $2,504,543 in federal funding to the Collier County Sheriff’s Office to upgrade marked policing equipment, including marked patrol vehicles, as well as specialty vehicles such as a jail transport bus, a hostage negotiation van, and a safe boat.

"Over the past five years, I have had the privilege of working alongside Max Schachter, a man of incredible strength and resilience, who tragically lost his son, Alex, on February 14, 2018. Today, I proudly stand by Max, who has transformed his grief into powerful advocacy and tangible results. Together, we walked through the halls of the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School’s 1200 building.
