Today Congressman Diaz-Balart, who introduced a resolution last year condemning the FARC for the kidnappings of Americans, and Fabio Andrade, Colombian-American activist and leader in the South Florida community, expressed their solidarity with the hostages and praised the Colombian government and President Alvaro Uribe for a heroic rescue mission.

The U.S. Department of Education announced this week that the State of Florida has been selected as one of six states to participate in their differentiated accountability pilot program. Congressman Diaz-Balart took part in a state-wide, bipartisan effort to urge the Department to select Florida.
